The House From UP Was Real!?

Edith Macefield, an 84-year-old woman, was offered a million dollars to move. Without even flinching, she refused and continued living her life. For most, that would be difficult with a multi-million dollar commercial campus being built. In 2006, corporate developers had offered Edith that large sum of money to build a shopping center. Her act of defiance against the man inspired those who saw her little house in the middle of the concrete jungle that is Seattle.

To her, the house was more than just a place to live. It was full of memories and experiences. Laughter and pain were splattered on her peeling wallpaper. With no other option, the developers simply built around the home.

Her actions were so inspiring that it was in fact the inspiration for the movie, loved by all ages, UP! Who knew that Mr. Frederickson’s house was based off a true story!
